The Overlanding Ambulance begin their Guinness World Record attempt

The Overlanding Ambulance trio are engaged couple Lawrence Dodi and Rachel Nixon, and their four-legged ‘brains’ Peggy Sue, the English springer spaniel. Add 'Amber', the converted Ex-private ambulance used at Ascot and other cross-country equine events, and the team is complete.

Both with a passion for travel, the two vets Lawrence and Rachel have been inspired to embark on an around the world journey in their beloved ambulance. The mission? Not simply to see the world.

They wish to accomplish a true global circumnavigation to gain the Guinness World Record for ‘the longest journey in an ambulance.’

Also, the wish to raise money and elevate the profiles of their chosen charities, which includes Anthony Nolan, Vet Life, and World Land Trust.

To submit their attempt, Guinness World Records require tracking data from the vehicle, showing the precise miles travelled. With the help of a tracker and global sim from AddSecure Smart Transport, the couple can be assured their travel data is collected and stored safely.

After many delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Overlanding Ambulance have finally kicked of their trip, and set off on October 2nd.

We will keep in touch with the couple as they progress on their amazing feat and wish them luck in the voyage ahead!
