About Heinrich Schmidt Group
Founded in 1960, Heinrich Schmidt Group is a wholesale distributor with its own transport fleet, operating 16 subsidiaries across plumbing, heating and air conditioning, electrical supplies, steel, aluminium, appliances and mechanical engineering.
With 141 locations, the Group employs around 2,450 people. Deliveries are carried out using 360 company-owned trucks.
Modern telematics as the foundation for sustainability
The Heinrich Schmidt Group has strengthened its sustainability efforts by upgrading its telematics infrastructure and introducing AddSecure’s FleetVision all-in-one solution designed to help customers master the complexity of fleet operations. Today, 360 trucks across 17 locations are managed centrally, providing the data foundation required to reduce fuel consumption, lower CO₂ emissions and meet the requirements of ISO 50001 energy management.
By replacing 11 year old hardware with LTE ready telematics units, vehicle, tachograph and fuel data is now captured and analysed in real time. FleetVision provides full visibility of fuel consumption, driving behaviour and vehicle performance across the entire fleet, enabling targeted actions to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The platform is also used to generate the data required for the company’s annual energy audits.
FleetVision gives us precisely measurable fuel consumption data, which is essential for identifying savings potential and meeting ISO 50001 requirements for systematic reductions in CO₂ emissions,” says Markus Schmitz, Logistics Manager at the Heinrich Schmidt Group.
EcoDriving and fuel transparency reduce emissions
One key contribution to sustainability is the integrated EcoDriving functionality, which continuously analyses driving behaviour and highlights inefficiencies. By improving driving styles and increasing transparency across the fleet, fuel consumption and emissions can be reduced on a lasting basis. In addition, discrepancies between fuel card transactions and actual tank levels help uncover diesel losses, further improving resource efficiency.
FleetVision also supports sustainable operations by digitising and securely archiving compliance relevant documents and automating reporting processes, reducing administrative effort and enabling data-driven decision-making.
A future-proof platform for sustainable fleet management
With FleetVision, the Heinrich Schmidt Group has established a future-proof digital platform that enables measurable reductions in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, supports ISO 50001 certification and creates a solid foundation for continuous improvement in sustainable fleet operations.
