First steps with FleetVision FMS

The easiest way to get started is via the MAP tab. Here you can see your vehicles at a glance - including the most important status information. If you click on a vehicle symbol or the license plate number, you jump directly to the corresponding detailed views in other areas of the system. This allows you to quickly understand how the individual modules are connected.

The KARTE in FleetVision FMS - more than just positions

  • The map view is much more than just a location display based on map material. It contains a range of additional functions and can be configured to suit the way you work. The best way to get started is to familiarize yourself with the available panels and their options.

  • At the top left you will find the vehicle list by default. Use the checkboxes to specify which vehicles should be visible on the map.

  • Important: The more vehicles you select, the more data the system has to load - this can temporarily affect the performance of the map view.

Vehicle list: Configure view, filter, use options

The vehicle list is also a good starting point for testing typical operating patterns in the system:

  • Use the configuration icon to decide which data and parameters (columns etc.) should be displayed and which should not - e.g. "Odometer reading" "Fuel level" "Internal number".

  • Use the options icon to find additional settings that control what and how something is displayed - e.g. "only display the last 3 hours".

Practical tip: If you want the map to always retain the same scale and view – regardless of vehicle movements – activate the “Maintain scale and position” function . With this option active, the zoom level will remain the same even when a new data set is added.

Filtering and routing - quickly find the relevant information

Use filters to narrow down the information displayed, e.g:

  • "only vehicles that are currently on break"

  • "Vehicles dispatch group 1"

  • "only vehicles within a radius of 5 km around Berlin"

  • The "Routing" function helps you to quickly check how long it will take a vehicle to reach a destination. To do this, select a vehicle from the list - its current position is automatically adopted as the starting point. Then enter the destination address. The system will then show you suitable route suggestions including the estimated journey time.

  • You can also customize the display of the map view (including additional windows). To do this, use the corresponding function on the right-hand side.

Interactivity: Details via hover or click

  • FleetVision is deliberately designed to be responsive and interactive. Many elements provide additional information as soon as you move the mouse over them, or open the relevant report, file or diagram directly with a click.

  • If you move the cursor over a vehicle on the map, you immediately get more context on the current situation. The colored marking on the license plate also provides a quick indication of the status.

Quick access from the vehicle list

Click on the round icon next to each vehicle:

  • Work report - Overview of operating and working hours

  • GPS readings - track events such as journeys, breaks, refueling stops

  • New location - create important locations (base, customers, filling stations)

  • Review - Location history in the selected period

  • Vehicle parameters - current basic information about the vehicle

  • Send message - direct communication with the driver

  • At the bottom left, you will see a preview of the daily work diagrams as standard. This view is deliberately designed as a brief overview so that you can quickly assess the status of a vehicle. You can also find the full report in FleetVision - more on this in the "Vehicle files" section.

  • The following functions are also available in quick access: "GPS distance" shows the distance covered via the GPS signal. "CAN distance" shows the distance recorded directly from the vehicle (CAN bus). "Show route" opens a new page with a route view for the defined time period. There you can "play" the route and use the checkbox to control whether, for example, refueling, stops or breaks should be displayed.

What can I do with the vehicle files?

The Vehicles tab is basically your central database for the fleet: you can enter, search and manage information there. The options available to you depend on your user rights. After opening it, you will see the vehicle list - each line represents a vehicle. The most important element is the license plate number. Click on it to open the vehicle card, where you will find the following, among other things:

  • technical and operational data,

  • current and historical locations,

  • GPS and CAN parameters,

  • Usage and cost-related information, documents, equipment and much more.

Action icons - quick access to important tools

Next to each vehicle you will find icons for direct access to central functions, e.g:

  • To the readings - opens the overview of all raw data/readings from the vehicle recorder.

  • Show on map - shows the current vehicle position in a separate window.

  • Fuel report for vehicle - opens the fuel report (refueling, consumption, statistics, etc.); only available for vehicles with fuel measurement.

  • Show reminders - shows expired reminders for checks, maintenance, etc.

Take your time to browse through the vehicle file. The system is designed so that you can gain a very good understanding of many areas through exploration.

Note: Data is only saved when you click “Save” . Well-maintained vehicle records are the foundation for accurate and complete reports and analyses later on.

GPS readings - what can I find there?

  • The GPS readings tab is one of the most important entry points for checking the information on your vehicles stored in the system.

  • The module bundles events from GPS, CAN, sensors and on-board computers. You will also find links to other reports, analyses and visualizations (e.g. location data, fuel reports, work reports, etc.).

Route analysis - lots of data behind the interactive map

The route analysis works with the current position (GPS tracker) and shows the route as an interactive map including events and parameters, e.g:

  • driven route,

  • Idle,

  • Breaks,

  • Work of additional units,

  • Refueling and fuel outlets.

The side panel displays information such as total driving time, idle time, GPS/CAN distance, maximum speed, and start and end locations. You can show or hide event types in the ” Visibility ” section.

Work report - daily activity clearly visualized

A very visual reporting (work chart or bar chart) that shows the vehicle's activity day by day - including status, events and anomalies. Clicking on a section opens details such as time, distance, location, driver, etc.

Fuel report - Fuel overview, easy to understand

  • The fuel report shows the fuel level over time as a diagram. The maximum corresponds to the tank capacity so that you can immediately classify the situation. Additional information is displayed directly in the chart using symbols and markers (refueling, anomalies, fraud indicators). There are also sidebars with statistics and events.

  • Advanced functions include the comparison of CAN and probe data, analysis of time/distance/data packets and switching to other reports (work report, route analysis, tachograph, eco-driving).

Use reports: Access via the operating report

FleetVision offers numerous report types for monitoring your fleet. To get started, we recommend the operating report - it is one of the most comprehensive reports in the system and shows fuel consumption, routes and working hours at a glance. How to create your first report:

  • Select the desired period

  • Select a vehicle or a vehicle group

  • Click on "Generate report"

Working with the finished report

After creation, you have these options, among others:

  • Hide criteria: You can collapse criteria panels using the collapse icon. You can then see how many options are active in the column headings (e.g. fuel).

  • Add criteria retrospectively: Each column has an icon that you can use to add further criteria - even after generation. Changes are saved automatically.

  • Open details: Click on a line - a window with tabs opens, via which you can jump directly to detailed vehicle information.

Summary

The operations report is a powerful analytical tool that:

  • uses all available vehicle data
  • a very precise adjustment of the evaluation is allowed,
  • makes detailed information accessible with a click
  • It makes irregularities visible and supports the optimization of fleet performance.
