As ten years marks a truly monumental milestone for the business, we’re reflecting on everything we’ve accomplished in the last 10 years – and revealing our plans for the future.
Our key achievements:
- Entered the UK marketplace
A recent achievement, we entered the UK market in 2024 when we partnered with BT Redcare who announced the closure of its services. We’ve since seamlessly transitioned tens of thousands of former BT Redcare customers, including one of the UK’s most established security providers, Banham Security, which also involved upgrading them from legacy equipment to the NGP portfolio.
While a new market for the business, we’ve quickly built a formidable team and reputation in the region, and we’re excited to continue our success.
- Educating customers amid a number of shutdowns
We’ve entered the marketplace at a time when significant changes are ongoing. With BT Redcare shutting down at the end of 2025, the PSTN scheduled to be switched off in January 2027, 3G already removed by some operators and 2G services following by 2033, the AddSecure team has worked tirelessly to support installers with, and educate customers about, the impact these changes will have on alarm systems and how to successfully navigate them.

- Tackling the skills shortage
Across the business we’ve taken steps to tackle the alarm sector’s growing skills shortage. We’ve partnered with Skills for Security, an apprenticeship provider, to help ensure that the next generation of talent is entering the industry. We’ve trained a total of 240 apprentices since the programme began in September 2024 – a fantastic achievement, and certainly a way to make our mark on the sector.

What’s in store for the next 10 years?
- The 2G/3G shutdown makes way for emerging technologies
Although 2G/3G will have been completely phased out within the next decade, many alarm systems still rely on it for one or both of its pathways and, consequently, many products on the market still rely on this outdated network. 4G has already become the default network and is on its way to reaching the whole of the UK.
5G also has excellent performance and connectivity, although is mainly established in major cities and is unlikely to catch up with 4G’s reach in the next decade. Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) and Cat-M1 (LTE-M) are slowly emerging into the market and will likely see a spike in popularity as a long-range communication option over the decade.
- Cyber threats are increasing and manufacturers must respond
Cloud or IP-based alarm systems are now the norm, exponentially increasing the risk of hacking, data breaches and cyber-attacks. To protect customers, digital and online security needs to be at the heart of every alarm system’s design.
Along with Addsecure’s ISO 27001 certification, this is where AddSecure’s products come into their own. Many products on the market create a system and then add a firewall later to reinforce the system, while AddSecure builds security layers into the system itself. We also regularly and thoroughly test all our products using world renowned third-parties, BSI and BRE, to ensure they are kept up-to-date as new threats emerge.
- Integrated systems are the future
In the past, alarm systems were isolated features, however now they are typically part of a connected system also featuring controls for temperature or access for example. This has many benefits for customers, including building management data in one place, real-time updates, easier monitoring and remote access.
No doubt this trend will continue over the decade, and installers and monitoring centres will have to respond accordingly. For example, building managers will likely not be onsite and may even be located across the country, making site visits more difficult to arrange.
